Mumbai vs Kings XI

Mumbai fall short

Late collapse hands Kings XI a one-run success

Sreesanth: takes possession of the purple cap

The Kings XI Punjab snapped the Mumbai Indians six-match winning streak in thrilling fashion on Wednesday.

The Indians went down by one-run after losing six wickets in the final three overs to be bowled out for 188 in pursuit of 190.

Sachin Tendulkar's 65 looked to be leading the hosts home at the Wankhede Stadium, but his dismissal from the final delivery of the 17th over - one of five run outs in the innnings - was the start of a spectacular collapse.

Punjab seamer Shantha Sreesanth finished with 2-35 to move alongside Irfan Pathan as the Indian Premier League's leading wicket-taker on 15. Sreesanth's superior economy rate means he gets to wear the purple cap for the time being.

Earlier, rapid half-centuries from the Kings XI's Australian duo Shaun Marsh and Luke Pomersbach allowed them post a total of 189-4 after being asked to bat.

Opening batsman Marsh blasted 81 from 50 balls and shared a second wicket stand of 133 with Pomersbach, who went on to finish unbeaten on 79 from 50 balls.

The result leaves the Kings XI in second place in the IPL table with 16 points from 11 matches, while Mumbai are still in contention for a semi-final spot in fourth place with 12 points from 11 matches.
