Middlesex will play in Pro40 League Division One next season after a six-wicket victory in their play-off against Northamptonshire.
Three wickets each for Steven Finn and Chris Wright saw Middlesex reduce the Steelbacks to 148 all out, and Ed Joyce and Eoin Morgan helped steer the hosts to victory with six wickets and 22 balls to spare.
Middlesex, who finished third in Division Two of the Pro40 League, where at home against third-bottom in Division One Northants, and the hosts won the toss and bowled first.
Northants were soon in trouble as opener Rob White went for a duck on just the fifth ball of the innings when he was caught behind.
Andrew Crook and Nicky Boje added 34 for the second wicket to steady the ship somewhat, but wickets then started to tumble as Finn and Wright got stuck in.
David Sales tried his best to hold the innings together as he made a defiant 70, but he struggled for company at the crease.
Wright took 3-29 while Finn almost matched him with figures of 3-30 as Northants crumbled and were all out for just 148 after only 35.3 overs.
Ed Smith went early for just five in Middlesex's response, but Andrew Strauss and Ed Joyce then added 39 for the second wicket before Strauss went lbw for 15.
Joyce then went for 42 soon after to leave Middlesex on 68-3 and with two new batsmen at the crease.
Northants could not capitalise though as Eoin Morgan and Jamie Dalrymple shared a stand of 46 to steer Middlesex towards the winning line.
Dalrymple was trapped lbw for 23 with the score on 114-4 and with Middlesex well in sight of the victory that would give them promotion.
Morgan kept his cool and he and Nick Compton combined to grab the remaining 35 runs they needed for victory.
Compton finished unbeaten on 18 while Morgan hit a composed 34 not out which was a key role in Middlesex's score of 151-4.
The victory meant that Middlesex joined Somerset and Durham in gaining promotion into Division One of the Pro40 League, while Northants were relegated into Division Two alongside Warwickshire and Essex.
