Friends Life t20: Adam Rossington helps Middlesex beat Kent

Adam Rossington: Finally dismissed attempting to reverse sweep James Treadwell

Alex Blake: Tried his best to get Kent up to a competitive total at Uxbridge

Adam Rossington smashed a competition-best 74 as Middlesex cruised to a nine-wicket win over Kent in Uxbridge.

The Friends Life t20 clash between the two south Group rivals turned out to be a one-sided affair as the hosts cruised to their target of 141 with 26 balls to spare.

Middlesex put Kent's total of 140-6 into perspective right from the off, Rossington posting his maiden t20 half-century from 28 balls.

The former England Under-19 wicketkeeper-batsman eventually fell in the 11th over having hit 10 fours and four sixes, bowled by James Tredwell attempting to reverse sweep the off-spinner.

The dismissal ended an opening stand worth 103 with Dawid Malan who carried his bat for an unbeaten 31 to see the Panthers home alongside Joe Denly (33 not out).

Kent had simply never been able to recover from losing both their opening batsmen in the first 20 balls of the game, Rob Key and Sam Northeast falling to miscued shots attempting to go over the top.

Sam Billings (22) and Darren Stevens (25) put on 45 for the third wicket before the former was dismissed by Ravi Patel.

Ex-England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones, making his FLt20 season's debut having been rested for Kent's opening three games, chipped in with 22 from 21 balls before dragging a pull shot onto his own stumps.

It was left to Alex Blake to provide some much-needed late impetus, his unbeaten 37 spanning 34 deliveries and including three fours and a six.
