Day 1 of 1
Glamorgan win by 26 runs

Middlesex vs Glamorgan

Yorkshire Bank 40: Marcus North's century helps Glamorgan make it two from two in Group C

Marcus North: Struck 16 fours and three sixes in his unbeaten century

Jim Allenby: Made a half-century before also chipping in with two wickets

Captain Marcus North hit 137 not out as Glamorgan made it two wins from two in the Yorkshire Bank 40 with a 26-run triumph over Middlesex.

Australian North blasted three sixes and 16 fours to power the visitors to 280-3 from their 40 overs at Lord's and the Panthers never really came close in reply despite 75 from Gareth Berg, eventually finishing up on 254-9.

Having seen off Yorkshire in Colwyn Bay on Sunday, the Welsh county didn't seem to be suffering from tiredness after a long journey to the capital as they amassed an excellent score after being put in.

Will Bragg made 62 at the top of the order despite seeing Mark Wallace and Chris Cooke both fall in the eighth over, the latter superbly run out before he'd troubled the scorers by Joe Denly's direct hit from cover.

However it was North and Jim Allenby who really put the Panthers to the sword with an unbeaten fourth-wicket partnership of 156 in 16.3 overs.

Allenby played his part with 69 not out from 50 deliveries, including hitting a six and five boundaries, as Middlesex were made to regret their decision at the toss.

Their chase of such a big target didn't start too badly, though Chris Rogers (22), Dawid Malan (35) and Paul Stirling, who made 36 at faster than a run-a-ball rate, all perished when well set.

And when Neil Dexter and John Simpson departed in quick succession to leave the score at 172-6 from 29 overs, the Panthers looked likely to fall well short.

That they got so close in the end was down to Berg, the all-rounder managing six fours and also clearing the rope twice to make his runs from only 57 deliveries. Michael Hogan eventually ended his fun with a yorker, helping the Australian-born seamer finishing with 3-57.

Will Owen also claimed three wickets, although his six overs cost 48, for Glamorgan while Allenby completed a fine all-round display with 2-49.
