Leicestershire 390 (H D Ackerman 164, J du Toit 63) v Glamorgan 189 & 185 (D S Harrison 64, A G Wharf 51 no, D du Preez 5-48)
Leicestershire (21pts) beat Glamorgan (3pts) by an innings and 16 runs

Leicestershire moved back to the top of Division Two after taking 14 wickets on day three to beat Glamorgan by an innings and 16 runs at Grace Road.

Resuming the third day at Grace Road on 99-6, Glamorgan's batting misery continued as South African Claude Henderson picked up three of the final four wickets to end the Welsh outfit's first innings 51 runs short of avoiding the follow-on.

Alex Wharf (30) and Ryan Watkins (33) were the only visiting batsmen to make significant contributions after the Glamorgan top-six had only amassed 79 runs between them.

Leicestershire skipper Paul Nixon had no hesitation in enforcing the follow-on, and despite the decision to open the bowling with Henderson failing to provide the breakthrough, the introduction of Dillon du Preez soon resulted in a procession of Glamorgan wickets.

After taking first innings figures of 3-32, du Preez, in tandem with Nadeem Malik ripped through the brittle Glamorgan upper-order to put the hosts on the brink of victory with the score on 46-7.

All-rounder Jim Allenby chipped in with two wickets to dismiss Watkins (13) and Jason Gillespie (18), and despite an explosive 64 off 32 balls from number 11 David Harrison, Du Preez picked up the 10th wicket to finish with second innings figures of 5-48 and complete an emphatic home victory.

Day Two

Glamorgan are struggling at 99-6 in reply to Leicestershire's first innings total of 390 after the hosts' South African imports shone at Grace Road.

The Welshmen are still 291 runs adrift after Hilton Ackerman (164) completed his fourth Championship century of the season and Jacques du Toit added an eye-catching 63.

Dillon du Preez then claimed three quick wickets and Boeta Dippenaar took a hat-trick of stunning slip catches to put Leicestershire in complete command.

Ackerman began the day needing 11 runs to complete his century and three early boundaries took him to his 13th first class hundred for his county.

He hit 22 fours from 249 balls before being bowled by David Harrison while du Toit hit seven fours and two sixes and Paul Nixon made a useful 36 to continue his strong form with the bat.

Glamorgan made a nightmare start to their reply as du Preez trapped Gareth Rees lbw and then clean bowled Michael Powell.

Three spectacular catches by Dippenaar at second slip then helped remove Matthew Wood, David Hemp and Jamie Dalrymple.

Day One

HD Ackerman will resume day two unbeaten on 89 as he helped guide Leicestershire to 164-3 at the end of the opening day against Glamorgan at Grace Road.

The South African used all his experience and class to lay the foundations for a potentially match winning first innings score, however the Dragons will be pleased to have claimed the key wicket of Boeta Dippenaar for 22.

David Harrison starred with the ball for the visitors as he picked up the wickets of opener Matthew Boyce (2) and Dippenaar to finish the day with figures of 2-40.

Ryan Watkins removed Tom New for 32 in the only other wicket to fall on day one, and it will be up to Ackerman to carry on his good work with night watchman Nadeem Malik (1 not out) as Leicestershire aim to amass a daunting first innings total on Saturday.
