Ian Blackwell smoked 98 off 64 balls as Durham claimed a 69-run win over Leicestershire in a high-scoring Clydesdale Bank 40 encounter at Grace Road.
Blackwell, the former Somerset and England all-rounder, dispatched seven fours and five sixes before being caught-and-bowled by seamer Alex Wyatt (2-36) two short of a century.
Ben Stokes also hit 50 off 41 deliveries and Gareth Breese chipped in with 44 in a final Durham total of 285-9 to make a mockery of Leicestershire skipper Matthew Hoggard's decision to bowl first.
The Foxes were bowled out for 216 in reply despite the best efforts of opening batsman Josh Cobb.
Cobb plundered a career-best one-day innings of 87 off 78 balls but the home side lost regular wickets, including three each for Blackwell (3-49) and Stokes (3-6), to be all out in 37.2 overs.
