Ajinkya Rahane's 59 not out steered Rajasthan Royals to an eight-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab in Chandigarh.
Set a target of 146, opening batsman Rahane led the way and received good support from Shane Watson (31) and Sanju Samson (47no) during stands of 66 and 76 for the second and third wickets respectively.
Rahane faced 49 balls and struck three fours and three sixes as the Royals secured victory with six deliveries to spare.
Seam bowler Kevon Cooper had earlier claimed 3-23 as the Kings XI made 145-6 after being asked to bat.
Australians Adam Gilchrist (42) and Shaun Marsh (77) put on 102 for the second wicket but both fell to Cooper before the innings petered out.
The result cuts the Royals' deficit on IPL leaders Chennai Super Kings to two points, while the Kings XI remain in sixth place in the nine-team league.
