Ireland vs Holland
Ireland won by six wickets
So ten Doeschate is on the losing end once again despite scoring a century, with Stirling upstaging him and O'Brien finishing things off. The Irish go home with two wins from six, while the Dutch head off empty handed. Two minnows leave to make way for the bigger games and from here on in, for today at least, you can fix your focus squarely to the clash on the go between the Kiwis and Sri Lankan in Mumbai.
Over 47.4 Seelaar 6-1-1-6
307-4 - Kevin O'Brien, the man who earlier in the tournament cranked the fastest ever World Cup century when the Irish upstaged England, slaps a massive six down the ground as the Fat Lady warms up and then has her belting out in Irish triumph with another six again straight down the ground.
Over 47 ten Doeschate 1-1-0-0-2-4
293-4 - Niall dances down the track to fetch an inside edge to fine-leg and with that arrives his half-ton. 53 balls to get there, including six fours. He's pretty much finishing what Stirling started and the Irish fans are indeed gearing up for fuel to their post-St Paddy's Day celebrations.
Over 46 Seelaar 0-0-0-0-1-1
285-4 - Kevin eventually gets the single away that gets him off the mark, with one of Seelaar's darts a bit rogue to the leg-side. That's about it for the over, with the Irish set to take this result at a canter bar a delightfully Dutch miracle.
Over 45 ten Doeschate 4-2-W-2-2-0
283-4 - Plenty of discussion on the go between captain and bowler as to where and how to set the fielders, with Ireland's batting Powerplay arriving right on cue. The five-over tactic is off to a good start for the side at the crease, with Wilson's ride through the line fetching him a fat edge past the wicketkeeper for four. A juicy full toss follows, but the left-hander can do nothing with it but plank it to sweeper cover. Wicket! The Dutch then snatch some momentary impetus back, with Wilson's heave across the line in a bid to go big over midwicket succeeding only in spooning a top edge high into the sky. Wicketkeeper Buurman gets under it in the short midwicket region, almost makes a mess of the catch, but ultimately hangs on on the dive forward. Relief for him. Glimmer of hope for the Netherlands. Kevin in now to join his brother Niall at the crease.
Over 44 Seelaar 0-0-0-1-2-0
273-3 - Spinner Seelaar is going to try his hand in what is, ostensibly, a last roll of the dice from the Dutch. The Irish duo are happy not to take any risks against Holland's best slow bowler of the day, merely knocking him around for the ones and twos on offer behind the wicket.
Over 43 Borren 1-4-0-4-1-1
270-3 - Rightly so, Cooper is yanked out of the attack as the captain gives himself the ball. O'Brien takes to the seamer straightaway, squirting four through the vacant thirdman berth thanks to a thick edge. He wanted it high and hard over long-on, but behind the wicket will do just fine too. Four jammed through point follows that and, having done enough for the over, the left-hander simply turns the strike over to his batting partner with a casual single dinked through the off-side. Ireland need 37 runs off 42 balls to win from here on in.
Over 42 Raja 1-1-0-0-1-1
259-3 - Raja offering very little flight now for fear of being tonked to the fences, instead darting in low, flat, full deliveries. Wilson and sidekick happy to nudge and nurdle the singles on offer, particularly straight down the ground. Chips rather than full-blooded strikes are enough to have the ball bounce just in front of long-on and -off.
Over 41 Cooper 1-0-6-6-4-0
255-3 - Short ball from Cooper, but O'Brien fails to capitalise and instead bangs it along the ground to deep cover. Happy to have the strike back, Wilson gets straight to business with swift foot movement in banging six and six again back over the bowler's head to swing the momentum well and truly Ireland's way. Four squirted past backward point follows and Wilson has certainly injected some impetus into the Irish pursuit here. They still have their batting Powerplay in hand, remember.
Over 40 Raja 0-0-0-0-4-0
237-3 - The right-arm spinner continues from around the wicket to the left-handed O'Brien, who seems to think he has all year to score the remaining runs for victory. Realising he is racking up dot balls at an alarming rate, he promptly decides to fix it all with an awkward reverse-sweep, which balloons past the wicketkeeper through thirdman-cum-fine-leg for four. Regardless of the boundary, Raja won that battle within the war.
Over 39 Cooper W-0-0-0-0-0
233-3 - Big blow for Ireland and massive boost for the Dutch, who are very happy to see the back of Joyce. Wicket! His attempt to dab a straight one down to thirdman for a single fails, with a thin edge instead feathered to the wicketkeeper. Cooper's part-timers bag another scalp and, ladies and gentlemen, we have a cliffhanger on the cards. In now is Wilson, who does his best to work his first single through the on-side but can't beat midwicket time and time again. So, a wicket-maiden.
Over 38 Raja 1-4-1-1-0-0
233-2 - O'Brien fancies a trot down the track and heave through the spin, fetching himself an ugly four skewed through the on-side. Not the most textbook of strokes, but certainly the desired result for the left-hander. With the start to his over off to an expensive start, the spinner does well to close it on the quiet with a better, tweaked length.
Over 37 Bukhari 2-1-0-0-2-1lb
226-2 - Bukhari to continue. O'Brien cracks a cut though point but there is protection on the fence so it's just two. Two more to the total, this time Joyce is the man responsible as he comes down the track and drives powerfully through extra cover.
Over 36 Raja 0-0-0-0-4-1
220-2- Raja starts strongly with a few dots but O'Brien decides enough is enough and gets down on one knee to crack a slog sweep to the fence for four.
Over 35 Bukhari 0-2-4-0-2-0
215-2 - 100 needed from 96 for the Irish, if they're smart about this it should be a fairly easy task. With the 'new' ball in hand, it's Mudassar Bukhari to continue after the break. Joyce gets in a bit of a tangle but still manages to pull the ball over short midwicket for two. No mistake this time though as Joyce spanks the ball over midwicket for four. Ooh, nearly a chance there as Joyce makes up his mind early to run two to the leg side sweeper, he really has to put on the afterburners to get home and a good throw would have seen him short.
Over 34 Raja 0-1-2-0-1-0
207-2 - Change of bowling with the off-breaks of Adeel Raja returning. O'Brien picks up two, driving to the right of the man at short extra cover. Time for the players to take a drinks break and for the umpies to change the ball.
Over 33 Cooper 1-1-0-0-0-2
202-2 - This pair are starting to find their stride now, having picked up a few boundaries in the previous over they now nudge the ball around for a few singles before Joyce slashes the ball wide of deep cover for two.
Over 32 Seelaar 0-4-0-4-1-1
198-2 - Aaah, super shot from Joyce as he runs the ball off the face of the bat very, very fine and it rushes to the third man fence. Two boundaries from the over and again it's the third man fence that is targeted, with Joyce giving himself a bit of room and guiding the ball into the gap.
Over 31 Cooper 0-0-0-0-0-1
188-2 - Nearly another maiden before Joyce manages to squeeze the ball down the ground for one.
Over 30 Seelaar 0-0-0-0-0-0
187-2 - Seelaar fires through a quick maiden over. Blink and you would have missed it!
