India vs Sri Lanka
India win by 7 wickets with 6.3 overs remaining.
The Indian batting performance was dominated by the 154 run stand between Kohli and Sharma which set up a straight forward win. Singles were free flowing and India never looked under pressure, largely due to an un-threatening Sri Lankan bowling performance. Sursh Raina's team will be grateful for a boost to their net run rate which could come in hand towards the end of the tournament. Sri Lanka meanwhile will have to go back to the drawing board with the absence of their key players being very noticable. Thanks for joining us and we look forward to having your company again on Tuesday when the home side take on Sri Lanka right here in Bulawayo.
Over 44 Fernando 4-0-1
243-3 - That's the win for India. The captain Raina hits a boundary and then takes a single to give India a well deserved and dominant seven wicket victory over Sri Lanka.
Over 43 Mendis 0-1-1-0-1-4
238-3 - That a second hundred in the series for Sharma! Fantastic innings in which he gave away only one half cahnce but was otherwise perfect. He brought three figures up off 100 balls with a four through the cover field.
Over 42 Fernando 3-1-1-0-wd-1-4
231-3 - Sharma nearing a second consecutive century is nearly run out by a direct hit from Kulasekara at fine leg. Fernando had brought the fine leg up and then bowled a delivery drifting onto Sharma's pads with the number four just making it back for the second. Fernando gets away with one short and wide delivery but not the next, called wide by umpire Tiffin. Raina will want to play his shots but won't want to deprive Sharma of a hundred. He's keen to get to three figures too and hits imperiously through extra cover for four. 12 runs needed from 48 balls. Sharma four short of a hundred.
Over 40 Randiv 1-1-0-0-1-0
212-3 - Raina doesn't want to waste any time and is down the pitch to Randiv. It's a slow wicket however and he is caught by the bounce and squeezes a single into the leg side. There's no more bonus point available but India's run rate will still be important come the end of the tournament.
Over 39 Mendis 1-4-0-1-0-0
209-3 - Raina gets a sweep wrong to a Mendis googly but luck is on his side and the ball runs down to the fence for four.
Over 38 Randiv 0-0-1-W-1-1
203-3 - Wicket! Kohli has taken on the long on and has been caught on the fence for 82. Great knock. The partnership was worth 154 runs and has won the game surely for India. Captain Suresh Raina is the new man.
Over 37 Kulasekara 1-2-4-1-1-1
200-2 - Kohli whips Kulasekara through the leg side and to the fence. He's showing more intent now. The batsmen made an inquiry to the dressing room before the over as to whether they should take the powerplay but no is the answer. Still ten from the over and the 150 partnership is up.
Over 36 Randiv 6-0-0-1-0-0
190-2 - Six! Sharma goes massive hitting with the spin. No runs off the next two deliveries which catches the batsmen by surprise, so used to running off every delivery there's nearly a mix up between Sharma and Kohli. A good come back from Randiv after being launched first ball.
Over 35 Kulasekara 1-1-1-1-0-1
183-2 - What has the message been to either side after a brief drinks break? Indian will get a bonus pint if they score the runs within 40 overs. It's possible but is it worth taking risks for and calling for the powerplay early? Kulasekara has been tremedously miserly today but even he cannot stop the flood of ones.
Over 34 Randiv 0-1-1-4-1-1
178-2 - Kohli gets a slightly short ball from Randiv which he doesn't time perfectly but gets enough on it to cash in for four runs, add four singles and it's a familiar formula for this pair. Eight from the over as India accelerate towards the target.
Over 33 Perera 0-1-1-1-4-1
170-2 Samawareera has a half cahnce at extra cover as Sharma drives on the up. All the fielder can do is palm that away and they want to get back into this game they'll have to take half chances like that. Kohli gets his timing right through the covers to pick up what is becoming an obligatory boundary per over now. These two now hold the record third wicket partnership, 123, at Queens.
Over 32 Mendis 0-4-0-1-1-1
162-2- Rohit Sharma on the back foot through extra cover, classical cricket stroke which gives him four. Such pure timing and having got the boundary he is happy to knock the rest of the over around.
Over 31 Fernando 0-6-1-0-1-1
153-2 - Six! Sharma has leant back and lifted a short Fernando delivery over the fence to bring up the 100 partnership! Fantastic stroke which he made to look very easy. Kohli tries the same but doesn't have the timing and misses on the pull. 88 needed from 19 overs now.
Over 30 Mendis 1-1-1-0-1-2
146-2 - Sorry to harp on about this but it's a continual flow of easy singles. There have only been four boundaries in this stand. Mendis has long-on and long-off back as well as a man sweeping on the cover fence who are being milked for ones. A sneaky second to mid on nearly has Kohli in trouble but a the ball misses the stumps and he makes his ground with a dive anyway.
Over 29 Fernando 1-1-2-0-0-0
139-2 - Kohli drops it short and scampers for a single and his seventh ODI fifty. They are piercing gaps, dropping into space and running hard for two where possible to frustrate the Sri Lankans who just seem powerless to stop India. There have been very few risks taken in this partnership of 92.
Over 28 Mendis 1-1-1-1-0-1
135-2 - Sharma has plays superbly and reaches a deserved fifty. Only three boundaries have come in that knock so far off 60 balls. He'll be a key man for India in the rest of this series.
Over 27 Perera 1-0-1-1-1-0
130-2 - Sri Lanka are just letting things happen, India marching along to victory. Dilshan is going to have to try something but is persisting with Perera for now. He's bowling well but not threatening. India pick off more singles.
Over 26 Mendis 1-0-1-0-1-1
126-2 - Dilshan has turned to Mendis for a breakthrough and Sharma and Kohli are aware of his wicket taking threat and therefore are happy to see out the offer with minimum fuss and a couple of singles.
Over 25 Perera 2-0-4-0-1-1
122-2 - The Sri Lankan captain is persisting with this bowling pair despite the ease of the Indian batters. Sharma again picks up a boundary, this time whipping it through mid wicket, perfectly timed. Mix up with a couple of ones and twos and that's another profitable over.
