    Sri Lanka move on top

A mature batting peformance by Sri Lanka sees them through, with Thilan Samaraweera starring with an undefeated century. In the end the islanders piped India by five wickets with 12 balls to spare and while there were a number of impressive individual performances, Welegedara's five-for deserves special mention, while Perea's quick-fire 36 off 15 balls proved decisive at the death. Two victories from two, mean Sri Lanka now leads the table.

    Over 48 Nehra 4-1-2-1nb-2-0-4

283-5 - Entertaining over as Perera hits the winning runs with a boundary off the last ball. He started the over well as he spotted the slower ball first up and sent it to the fence with a clean flick away over square leg. Samaraweera then added a single to go past his previous best ODI score of 104. Perera then grabbed two more with a drive down the ground, which forced Kohli into a dive to prevent the boundary. His pants came off in the process, much to the amusement of some of the players and parts of the crowd. Nehra then overstepped to set up a free-hit to the dangerous Perera. The left-hander then got caught by Zaheer in the deep but obviously it didn't count. He took full advantage by hitting the winning runs off the next ball.

    Over 47 Zaheer 1-0-4-0-4-0

269-5 - Samraweera reaches his century with a single off the first ball. Great knock as he signals his joy with a defensive air shot towards the dressing room. Perera then smashes two boundaries off low full tosses. Great little cameo here by the left-hander who moves onto 28 from just 10 balls. 11 runs needed for victory from 18 balls. India need a miracle at this stage.

    Over 46 Nehra 0-0-1-4-2-4nb-6

260-5 - Samaraweera survives a great run-out chance as Jadeja, fielding at point, misses the stumps by inches with the batsman well out of his ground. Once again it was an aborted run that nearly led to a wicket. Samaraweera gets a single to move onto 99, before Perera finds the fence with a superb inside out shot through the offside. Perera adds another two when he lofts a full toss on the onside. He then gets another boundary with a flick towards the square leg fence off a no-ball. He takes full advantage of the free hit as he clobbers a six over the square leg boundary. Massive over for Sri Lanka as they now need 20 from 24 balls.

    Over 45 Zaheer 4-0-2-0-1-1-4

242-5 - Great over for Sri Lanka as 12 runs come off it. Samraweera finds the fence with a superb square drive, while Perera gets his first boundary as he bludgeons the ball through the covers. The islanders now need 38 runs from 30 balls for victory.

    Over 44 Nehra 1-1-W-0-4-1lb

231-5 - WICKET! Randiv is run out by Dhoni after slipping when attempting to turn back from an aborted run. He departs for 4 and is replaced by Thissara Perera. Samraweera eases some of the pressure as he cuts Ashish Nehra over the covers for a boundary. The Powerplay has been taken. Sri Lanka starting to wobble a bit here.

    Over 43 Harbhajan 1-0-0-0-1-1

224-4 - Harbhan completes his final over in fitting style as just three runs come off it. Great effort by the masterful off-spinner as he ends with impressive figures of 10-1-47-3.

    Over 42 Yuvraj 1-1-0-0-1-1lb

221-4 - Another tight over by Yuvraj as four runs come off it, one of which was a leg bye. Randiv gets off the mark with a push back past the bowler, which Yuvraj attempts to sloppishly stop with his foot. Big lbw shout on the final delivery against Samraweera but the ball struck the batsman outside the line.

    Over 41 Harbhajan 2-0-0-1-W-0

217-4 - WICKET! Harbhajan's flighted delivery induces a false shot by Kandamby who attempts a slog sweep but only succeeds in getting a top edge to Sreesanth at midwicket. Kandamby leaves for 8 from 11 balls and is replaced by Suraj Randiv, who is yet to get off the mark.

    Over 40 Yuvraj 0-0-2-0-0-1

214-3 - Another tidy over by Yuvraj as just three runs come off it. Wickets, however, are what India desperately need, as at this stage the match is Sri Lanka's to lose.

    Over 39 Harbhajan 0-1-1-1-1-4

211-3 - The Sri Lankan pair pick off the singles before Kandamby crashes a boundary off the final ball with a perfectly timed cut square of the sweeper-cover. Sri Lanka are going at 5.41 runs to the over, with the required rate rising to 6.27. Still plenty of wickets in hand though.

    Over 38 Yuvraj 0-1-0-0-0-1

203-3 - The wicket disrupts Sri Lanka's momentum as just two singles come off the over. India will be desperate to get another scalp as they aim to wrestle away the momentum.

    Over 37 Harbhajan 1-W-1-0-1-0

201-3 - Harbhajan gets the long-awaited breakthrough as Sanga drives the ball straight into the hands of Suresh Raina at cover. The Sri-Lankan skipper departs for an excellent 60 from 80 balls and is replaced by Thilina Kandamby who gets off the mark with a cut off the back foot.

    Over 36 Jadeja 1-4-0-0-4-1

198-2 - Jadeja rejoins the attack and comes in for some abuse as Samaraweera hits him for two boundaries - the first being an exquisite inside out drive over extra cover. The second was rather lucky as he got an outside edge when attempting to cut, but nevertheless the ball found the third man boundary.

    Over 35 Sehwag 0-2-3-1-0-1

188-2 - The Sri Lankan pair keep the scoreboard ticking over as they pick up runs around the wicket. Good sensible batting as the partnership is now worth 111.

    Over 34 Zaheer 0-0-1-1-0-1

181-2 - Another good over by Zaheer as just three singles are conceded. India, however, need a wicket badly as Sri Lanka are coasting at the moment, with both batsmen picking their shots without taking any real risks.

    Over 33 Sehwag 0-2-0-1-1-4

178-2 - Good over for Sri Lanka as eight runs come off it, with Samraweera getting a boundary with a chip over midwicket. Harbhajan should have cut that one off but his body positioning was poor and the ball raced away across the slick outfield.

    Over 32 Zaheer 0-1-1-0-1-0

170-2 - Sanga brings up his 53rd ODI fifty and tenth against India by opening the face and running the ball to third man . Excellent, composed knock by the Sri Lankan skipper. Just three singles come off Zaheer's over.

    Over 31 Sehwag 2-1-1-0-0-0

167-2 - Sanga becomes only the fifth Sri Lankan to reach 8000 ODI runs when he cuts wide of the cover/sweeper. He then survives a vocal lbw shout thanks to a fine inside edge to move onto 49.

    Over 30 Sreesanth 1-1-1-1-1-1nb-4nb-4

163-2 - Samaraweera brings up the 150 with a top-edge which just clears square leg. He was cramped for space as he attempted the pull and very nearly paid the price. Sreesanth oversteps on what should have been the final delivery and concedes a four as Samaraweera scoops him over his shoulder. Unfortunately for the bowler, another no-ball is called for height and Samaraweera dispatches that free hit to the boundary to bring up his fifty. Solid knock by the right-hander.
