Yuvraj Singh's 77 not out saw India to a target of 202 and a six-wicket win over Australia in the Twenty20 international in Rajkot.
An unbroken stand of 102 between Yuvraj and his captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni powered India to their target with two balls to spare, only the fourth successful run chase of more than 200 in the format.
The fifth-wicket pair came together in the 12th over with India on 100-4 after Shikhar Dhawan (32), Suresh Raina (19) and Virat Kohli (29) all made starts and got out.
Yuvraj, making his return to India colours for the first time since January, slammed eight fours and five sixes in his 35-ball contribution.
Dhoni was content to play a supporting hand; turning the strike over at every chance in his 21-ball 24 and hitting the winning runs in Shane Watson's final over.
Aaron Finch earlier hit 89 as Australia piled up 201-7 after being sent into bat.
An opening stand of 56 off 29 balls between Finch and Nic Maddinson propelled Australia towards a formidable score.
Maddinson, making his international debut, raced to 34 with six fours and a six before being bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-35).
Vinay Kumar followed up with the wickets of Shane Watson (6) and George Bailey (0) but the runs kept coming; Glenn Maxwell launching four sixes in his 13-ball 27.
Finch batted through to the 17th over, his 52-ball effort finally ending when he offered Vinay Kumar (3-26) a return catch.
Australia's tour continues with a seven-match ODI series, starting in Pune on October 13.
