The first NatWest one-day international between England and Australia was washed out without a ball being bowled at Headingley.
After rain fell steadily throughout the day in Leeds, umpires Aleem Dar and Richard Illingworth called the whole thing off at 1.35pm.
The wicket had remained covered from before the scheduled start time of 10.15am with puddles soon forming on the outfield and the radar indicating little prospect of respite.
It is the third time in the past five ODIs scheduled at the Yorkshire venue that rain has prevented any play.
The teams will now head to Old Trafford for the second match on Sunday.
