Twenty20 Cup - North Division
Derbyshire 118-6 Innings Complete v Durham 124-3 (J A Morkel 54 no)
Durham beat Derbyshire by 7 wkts (D/L Method)
Durham clinched their place in the quarter-finals of the Twenty20 Cup after a seven-wicket win over Derbyshire at the County Ground.
South African pair Dale Benkenstein and Albie Morkel starred with the bat as they put on an unbeaten fourth wicket stand of 93 to guide the visitors to victory.
In a 18-over reduced game due to the setting sun, Derbyshire spluttered to a paltry 118-6 after tight bowling from Durham seamers Shaun Pollock (1-20) and Liam Plunkett (2-18).
Skipper Rikki Clarke did his best to inject some life into the Derbyshire batting display with a breezy 36 off 27 balls but the total never looked enough.
The Phantoms got off to a perfect start by dismissing former Derbyshire star Michael Di Venuto for a golden duck, and fellow opener Phil Mustard (0) to leave Durham reeling at 4-2.
However, and hopes of an unlikely victory were soon put to the sword as Durham skipper Benkenstein (47 not out) and compatriot Morkel (54 not out) ensured the Dynamos secured a place in the last eight with a game to spare.
