Brendon McCullum: hit a half-century

Kolkata Knight Riders took over from Delhi at the summit of the Indian Premier League table with a six-wicket win over the Daredevils.

Brendon McCullum's half-century helped Kolkata chase down a target of 154 with eight balls to spare in the top-of-the-table clash at Feroz Shah Kotla.

The New Zealander, who hit seven boundaries in his knock of 56, put on 68 for the first wicket with skipper Gautam Gambhir (36) in a mere seven overs.

Jacques Kallis weighed in with 30 and although seamer Umesh Yadav removed both the South African and McCullum, the damage had already been done for Delhi.

Powerful Pathan

The home side had earlier amassed 153-9 from their 20 overs, Irfan Pathan top-scoring with 36 from 22 balls, including four boundaries and a six.

Virender Sehwag had smashed a typically unrestrained 23 from nine balls and Mahela Jayawardene made 30, but the Daredevils were pegged back after such a fantastic start.

Kallis played his part for the Knight Riders with 2-20, while Sunil Narine (two for 23) was also impressive, Pathan one of the West Indian's victims.

Delhi amazingly lost four wickets in the final over, including the run outs of Morne Morkel and Varun Aaron, as they failed to set their opponents a tall enough order on a good batting pitch.
