The Royal Challengers Bangalore opened their IPL campaign with a 20-run home victory over the Delhi Daredevils.
The Challengers, who were without star batsman Chris Gayle through injury, made 157-8 in their 20 overs and then restricted the visitors to 137-7.
Australian Andrew McDonald gave the hosts a flying start with a trademark swashbuckling innings of 30 from 19 balls, including four fours and two sixes.
South Africa's AB de Villiers then provided the backbone with an unbeaten 64 from 42 deliveries which featured six fours and two sixes.
Indian paceman Irfan Pathan came in for plenty of punishment as he went for 47 runs from four wicketless overs, while Doug Bracewell was Delhi's most successful bowler with 3-32.
The Daredevils lost Virender Sehwag for a golden duck as they began their reply and were always off the pace as Muttiah Muralitharan (3-25) and his fellow bowlers kept the brakes on.
Naman Ojha top-scored with 33 before becoming one of Muralitharan's victims, while Pathan rattled up a quickfire 24 late in the innings.
