Australia vs Sri Lanka
Off to Brisbane we go
First final starts on Sunday at The 'Gabba before the teams head off to Adelaide for match two on Tuesday. If the three-match final is locked at 1-1 at that point, the decider will be played on Thursday, also in Adelaide. If these matches have been anything to go by, then we're set for a thrilling finale to this series. We'll be back Tuesday for more live commentary.
Emotional scenes at the MCG
There's a huge contingent of Sri Lankan support in Melbourne and the way they are celebrating, it looks like they've won the World Cup again. Great performance from them it must be said, they did brilliantly to bounce back from the midweek thrashing to India and with this victory they'll fancy their chances of taking the series over the Australians now.
Over 50 Kulasekara W
229-10 - There's plenty of space over extra cover and I fancy Hussey will be eying that area for a boundary. WICKET! Huss hits it down the throat of the long off. It's all over. Sri Lanka win by nine runs and they will face Australia in the final as India go home.
Over 49 Malinga 1-W-2-1-0-0
229-9 - Single off the first over puts Doherty on strike early. Jayawardene just calls for a bit of calm amongst his players as the left-hander comes on strike. WICKET! Slower ball does the trick for Malinga. Doherty just chips it straight into the air and almost every Sri Lankan fielder gets under it before Dilshan calls and claims it. Ben Hilfenhaus come to join Hussey who fortunately is on strike after crossing while that ball was in the air. A tie will be enough for Sri Lanka here, but Malinga has two balls to bowl to Hilfenhaus. Huge pressure on the number 11. Inside edge onto the pads and down to fine leg, but they refuse the single as Hussey leaves himself the challenge in the final over. Huss needs ten off the final over.
Over 48 Herath 6-2-1-0-0-0
225-8 - SIX! David Hussey, take a bow! Wonderful strike as he comes down the track to Herath and puts it over the sight screen. Six on any ground and Sri Lanka's heads drop in unison. Hussey follows it up with two and they're suddenly cruising. It seems India's tour is going to get any longer. Sri Lanka must get a wicket. Doherty can't get the ball away off the final three deliveries, but Hussey did the damage up front. 14 to win off 12 balls. Hussey will be on strike.
Over 47 Malinga 0-1-2-1-1-1
216-8 - Malinga starts with a dot. He needs to keep Doherty on strike for the majority of the over, but the batsmen are away of the need for a single and sneak off for one. It's just tip and run time for Doherty no matter where the ball lands. DROPPED! The captain puts down a sharp chance at cover as Hussey drives on the up. The ball was racing and Mahela had to make a huge dive to his left, but couldn't hold on. CHANCE! Hussey goes for another cheeky run and the direct hit would have had him miles out at the non-striker's end. One can just imagine the Indians cheering as that chance went begging.
Over 46 Herath 1-1-1-0-0-1wd-1
210-8 - Australia still have a good chance here. This has actually been an extraordinary tri-series with so many games going down to the wire. It's been yet another fantastic advertisement for one-day cricket and we're still far from over. It's all about dot balls for Sri Lanka now and Doherty's defending is providing that for the tourists. Five from the over. 29 more to get off 24 balls.
Over 45 Kulasekara 4-0-1-1-2-1
205-8 - FIFTY! Superb shot from Hussey who comes down the track and smashes Kula over extra cover to bring up Australia's 200 and his half-ton. Just looking at Sri Lanka's bowling resources it looks like Malinga will have two overs, one more for Kula after this. Then Herath has two remaining, while Mathews has six, but might not bowl again as he, along with Perera, is carrying an injury. Let's see how Jayawardene handles this.
Over 44 Malinga 2-1-1-3-1-1
196-8 - India and Australia's hopes all on Hussey now. He drives to the cover boundary and call Doherty back for two. He's just in at the striker's end, is Hussey. The Malinga yorker comes in and Hussey clips it between his legs and towards the fine leg boundary, but it's cut off just inches before the ropes. Malinga ends with the slower ball and Hussey makes sure he gets the single to stay on strike the next over. Nine from the over, Australia need more of that.
Over 43 Herath 1-1-1-0-W-0
187-8 - WICKET! Suicidal run from McKay and Hussey. Hussey pushes the ball straight to the fielder, Dilshan, who blasts it into the gloves of Sangakkara to do the rest. Huge wicket for Sri Lanka and Xavier Doherty has to come out and try save the situation. McKay cannot believe it as he slowly walks off the field. Hussey denied the run on the previous ball when there was a fumble, but on this occasion he was happy to take off. Bizarre calling from an experienced play it must be said. India might as well buy their tickets as it looks like they're going home. Spare a thought for Virat Kohli whose amazing innings on Tuesday kept them alive in the competition.
Over 42 Senanayake 0-1-1-1-1-1-1
184-7 - Senanayake loses concentration and dishes up a slow full toss to Hussey who plays it straight to cover. Instead of playing it to cover he should really have smashed the cover off it. Five singles in the over. It's decent, but now the required rate is nearing the seven mark.
Over 41 Herath 0-0-W-
179-7 - WICKET! Pattinson is not enjoying it out there. Two balls defended and the pressure builds up to a false stroke clipped off his pads and into the hands of the mid-wicket. Clint McKay comes to the crease now and Jayawardene brings in a slip and a short leg for the new man. As long as Hussey's there Australia still have a good chance, but a lot rests on his shoulders now. Perhaps a bit too much. 60 runs to win off 54 balls. The Sri Lankans in the crowd are very excited now.
Over 40 Senanayake 0-0-0-1wd-0-2-3
178-6 - Dot balls coming one after the other now. Pattinson is finding it tough out there and one feels the pressure is soon going to get to him. He lashes over cover and they sneak off for three. The asking rate is now above six per over for the first time.
Over 39 Kulasekara 0-0-0-0-0-0
172-6 - Kula continues and he's bowling a great length to Hussey who comes down the track and has to check his shot. APPEAL! Kula strikes him on the pad and it's an extended appeal from the bowler who is refusing to take no for an answer. Umpire Asad Rauf is not happy and has a word with Jayawardene about the excessive appealing. Hawkeye says it would have hit the stumps, but on-field umpire decision would have remained. Meanwhile it's a maiden over.
Over 38 Senanayake 0-1-4-0-0-1
172-6 - Senanayake floats it up to Hussey who takes the aerial route and drives for a boundary. It's almost run-a-ball time for Australia as that required rate creeps toward that six per over mark. Still anyone's game here in Melbourne.
Over 37 Kulasekara 2-1-0-1-0-0
166-6 - Kulasekara is the man to take the ball in this Powerplay. He needs to get David Hussey out and then get amongst the Australian tail. Clint McKay, Xavier Doherty and Ben Hilfenhaus remain - there's not a lot of batting amongst that trio. Good over from Kula as he keeps the Australians down to just four. 73 to win now off 13 overs.
Over 36 Senanayake 0-3-0-0-0-0
162-6 - Batting Powerplay is taken by Australia. Pressure situation here for Pattinson as his job is more to nurse the strike to David Hussey rather than to seek out the big shots. Just three runs off the blade of Hussey this over as the equation now reads 77 more to win from 14 overs.
Over 35 Dilshan 2wd-1-1-0-0-4-0
159-6 - Here's a make-or-break situation for Sri Lanka. Dilshan comes in to bowl, but he delivers a shocker first up and his rightly wided as Sangakkara cannot get to it. Dilshan's short and wide outside off and Pattinson rocks back and cuts him away behind point for a boundary. Two slips in place, good to see Jayawardene on the attack again.
Over 34 Senanayake 4-1-1-W-1-0
151-6 - WICKET! After being smashed for four to star the over Senanayake bounces back to to get rid of Christian. It's a sharp caught and bowled chance and the Sri Lankans are celebrating. Christian's refusing to leave, but after seeing the replay he has to go. Fair catch and suddenly they're back in it. James Pattinson strides to the crease at number eight. We saw in the Test series against India that he knows how to bat. APPEAL! There's a shout for a catch down leg side straight away, but it just brushes the pad as the umpire says no.
Where will Jayawardene turn?
Tough test here for the Sri Lankan skipper. He's a bowler down following the exit of Perera who is nursing a calf injury, while Australia are just 95 runs away from sending them home. He might have to go with the spinners helping him out here.
