Australia vs Kenya
Australia beat Kenya by 60 runs
A win for Australia but an unconvincing one against a side who had offered nothing in the tournament to date to suggest they would be able to run the holders this close. Mishra and Collins Obuya's batting will be the most encouraging thing for Kenya as they amassed their biggest World Cup score after a tournament littered with batting collapses. Australia, meanwhile, extend their unbeaten run in World Cup cricket to 33 games.
Over 50: Tait 0-0-1-1-0-1
264-6 - After two airshots, Patel is given a stern talking-to by Obuya and manages to get a single from ball three. WICKET! Obuya hits straight down the ground and Patel does his bit by coming back for a non-existent second run. He gets run out despite Tait taking an age to get the bails off, but at least it keeps Odoyo on strike with 97 to his name and two balls to go. He misses the penultimate ball and swishes his bat in frustration as he's left needing three from one ball. A good yorker from Tait to finish, and Obuya can get it away for only a single to be left stranded on 98 not out.
Over 49: Johnson 0-4-1-1-0-4
261-5 - Obuya gives himself a chance of a century as he pulls and drives for boundaries off Johnson to move to 96. Now needs Patel to get him on strike early in the final over.
Over 48: Tait 1-1-W-0-4-0
251-5 WICKET! Full, straight and fast from Tait, which proves to be enough to account for Odoyo whose big swish does nothing to impede the ball's progress into the middle stump. Patel is the new batsman, and he manages to pick up four off the inside edge after hopping all over his crease like a hyperactive child full of crisps and E numbers.
Over 47: Johnson 1-0-1-0-1-2
245-4 - Just a question now of whether Obuya can get through to a century. With three overs to go, he's on 86 as a skied pull shot just clears Lee at short fine-leg and brings a couple of runs.
Over 46: Watson 0-0-6-0-0-1
240-4 - More misery for Watson. First Odoyo smashes him 86m down the ground for six. This prompts Haddin to come up to the stumps. Next ball finds the edge, and Haddin grasses it. Delicious stuff.
Over 45: Johnson 0-1-0-4-1-1
233-4 - Obuya into the 80s as he aims an almighty mow at Johnson and gets a thick edge that spins away over point and down to the boundary.
Over 44: Watson 1-0-0-1-6-4
226-4 - Watson not enjoying his evening here. A leg-cutter is smashed over midwicket in uncomplicated fashion for six before an attempted yorker becomes a low full-toss and is carved through point for four by Obuya, who now has 78 and the chance for a century.
Over 43: Tait 4-0-1-4nb-1nb-1b-1-0
214-4 - Shambles of an over from Tait. A short ball is top-edged over fine-leg for four before a low full-toss goes over mid-off to give Obuya another boundary. Tait makes a mess of the stumps again, but only after bowling a no-ball so all the stump ricochet does is allow the batsmen a bye.
Over 42: Watson 1-6-1-1-0-0
200-4 - Obuya takes advantage of the fielding restrictions to pull Watson over square-leg for six. A couple of singles take Kenya to 200 for the first time in the tournament.
Kenya decide to have five overs of slogging fun.
Over 41: Lee 1-0-1-4-1-0
191-4 Shot! Odoyo gives himself room and flays Lee over cover for four runs as Kenya's surprising competence continues to delight the hardy few still inside the Chinnaswamy.
Over 40: Watson 0-0-0-1b-4-1
184-4 - Watson looks distraught as a thick inside edge from Odoyo runs away to the fine-leg boundary. Cracking lack of perspective there from the much-unloved Aussie all-rounder.
Over 39: Lee 4lb-1-0-0-0-0
178-4 - Obuya tries and fails to get out of the way of a Lee bouncer and because of his failure his team get four runs for leg-byes as the ball ricochets away to the fine-leg boundary off his shoulder. If anyone can give me a vaguely convincing explanation for how taking evasive action differs from leaving the ball when it comes to the award of leg-byes (cricket's most inexplicable runs any way), I'd be glad to hear it.
Over 38: Watson 0-0-6-0-0-1
173-4 - He may have run out two of his team-mates but Obuya has picked up a half-century of his own and gets there in glorious style by depositing a check-drive off Watson 10 rows behind long-off. That's the way to do it.
Over 37: Lee 0-0-0-1lb-4-0
166-4 - Back comes Lee as Australia go for the kill, but Odoyo is equal to the task a he hits a four straight down the ground. Lovely stuff.
Over 36: Watson 4-1-0wd-0-0-0-0
161-4 WICKET! Sad end for Mishra, who is run out by a yard-and-a-half by Clarke's direct hit from backward point. Horrible call from Obuya, who is now 46-2. Odoyo the new batsman for Kenya.
Over 35: Clarke 1-0-0-1-1-0
155-3 - Mishra now on 67 not out - his highest score in ODI cricket. Well batted indeed.
Over 34: Watson 1-0-0-0-0-1
152-3 - Good first over from Watson, strangely unused with the ball until this point. Big lbw appeal against Mishra from the final ball. The umpire incorrectly identifies an inside edge, but the ball was going over the top anyway.
Over 33: Clarke 1-1-1-1-0-0
150-3 - Kenya have successfully achieved Goal One and avoided humiliation. A ton for Mishra would be rather lovely, but anything beyond that seems unlikely.
