Australia vs England
The inquest will go on into that Bopara decision I'm sure. The ball definitely hit the bail while Bopara's foot was still in the air but whether the bail was actually dislodged before his foot came back down is much more doubtful.
It might have been a bit of a dead rubber but there are wild celebrations from Australia as they secure a 4-1 scoreline in the series. What a tense end to today's contest but England should really have made better work of chasing down such a modest total. Australia win by five runs
WICKET! Tredwell 0 (c Wade b Watson)
Watson will bowl the final over. Tredwell plays and misses at one and then manages to scamper through for a leg bye. Seven needed off four with Jordan on strike and Jordan scrambles through for a single. Then Tredwell flashes at a wide one and edges behind to Wade! Australia have won! England are 212 all out.
Over 49 - England 210/9 (Jordan 3, Tredwell 0)
Tredwell is the last man in and flicks a leg bye off his first ball before Jordan is held to a dot ball. Eight needed off the last over now. Replays of the Bopara stumping are shown again - it was such a marginal decision but the third umpire ruled the bail had been fully dislodged before his foot had come down.
WICKET! Bopara 25 (st Wade b McKay)
McKay will bowl the 49th over. Jordan crucially gets off strike by digging one out to point, which draws Wade up to the stumps. Bopara dabs the next ball down to third man for a single and then Jordan flicks one wide of midwicket for another run. McKay beats Bopara's edge for a dot ball. But wait, the third umpire has a look at a possible stumping as the ball rebounded off Wade's gloves and onto the bails with Bopara's foot possibly still in the air. The third umpire says... it's out!! Incredible stuff, Bopara is gone.
Over 48 - England 206/8 (Bopara 24, Jordan 1)
Faulkner starts the over with three dot balls! Bopara finally nudges a single back past the bowler and Jordan nabs one single from the final two deliveries, meaning he is back on strike at the start of the penultimate over. Faulkner is bowled out now and England need 12 off 12.
Over 47 - England 204/8 (Bopara 23, Jordan 0)
The wicket came off the last ball of the over so Bopara will be on strike. England need 14 runs from 18 balls.
WICKET! Broad 7 (b McKay)
McKay is brought back into the attack and concedes a single to Bopara first up. Broad also runs one after almost chopping onto his stumps and, after another Bopara single, Broad plays a fine cover drive through the gap for four and then flicks one through the leg side for two. It looks like that could settle it but McKay threads one through an open gate and into the stumps of Broad!
Over 46 - England 195/7 (Bopara 21, Broad 0)
Bopara works a single off the last ball of Faulkner's over to keep the strike.
WICKET! Bresnan 13 (run out)
Amazing fielding from Australia! They produce two straight direct hits, the first from Clarke not coming close to removing Bopara but the second from Maxwell catching Bresnan well short of the crease.
Over 45 - England 192/6 (Bopara 19, Bresnan 12)
Bresnan takes two off Coulter-Nile before launching him over midwicket for six! That changes the complexion completely as another single makes it nine from the over. That's all 10 overs from Coulter-Nile , who finishes with 3-34.
Over 44 - England 183/6 (Bopara 19, Bresnan 3)
Bresnan just gets away with an outside edge which goes over the head of cover and lands safe. Bopara and Bresnan combine for three singles before a wide from Watson extends the over. Bopara takes full advantage, cutting a loose and wide delivery square of the wicket for four.
Over 43 - England 175/6 (Bopara 14, Bresnan 1)
Bresnan is the next man out in the middle and he gets off the mark by flicking one through the leg side for a single. Just the two from the over as England now require 43 runs from 42 balls. Can the tail hold up and can Bopara finish this off?
WICKET! Buttler 5 (c McKay b Coulter-Nile)
Huge moment as Buttler fails to get hold of a short one from Coulter-Nile and flicks a simple catch to McKay at deep square leg.
Over 42 - England 173/5 (Bopara 13, Buttler 5)
Watson is now given the ball again and concedes three singles from his first over back. England now need 45 runs from 48 balls, a much tighter situation than seven overs ago.
Over 41 - England 170/5 (Bopara 11, Buttler 3)
Bopara provides some relief by taking a quick two before pulling a loose ball from Doherty to that midwicket boundary for four. Ten from the over in total.
Over 40 - England 160/5 (Bopara 4, Buttler 1)
Buttler works a single off the first ball of Faulkner's over before Bopara faces four dot balls. The pressure builds and builds and Bopara breaks, looping one up high into the air while trying to smash the bowler over the deep midwicket boundary. Watson is running back to try and take the catch but it falls through his hands. A huge let off as England take 12/1 from the powerplay.
Over 39 - England 157/5 (Bopara 2, Buttler 0)
Doherty comes back on and bowls a maiden. Not quite what England had in mind and the pressure grows.
Over 38 - England 157/5 (Bopara 2, Buttler 0)
Buttler is the new man in and he sees out the final ball of the over.
WICKET! Root 55 (c Doherty b Faulkner)
Bopara gets away with a dangerous leave of a ball which nipped back dramatically from Faulkner, who is now coming around the wicket. A single gives the strike back to Root, who misjudges another scoop shot and this time pays the price as the ball falls right into the hands of Doherty coming round from leg gully.
