Nicole Bolton: Top-scored for Australia A with 85 before falling to Anya Shrubsole

England Women were frustrated by some lower-order resistance from the Shooting Stars as the two-day fixture against Australia's second string in Perth ended in a draw.

Anya Shrubsole claimed 3-35 as the Stars finished day two at the Floreat Park Oval on 301-7 in reply to the visiting side's total of 386.

Opener Nicole Bolton top-scored for the hosts with 85, including putting on 73 for the first wicket with Rachael Haynes (27), while Delissa Kimmince weighed in with an unbeaten 60.

England had started the morning at the crease and added 24 runs to their overnight total of 362-7 before being bowled out, Georgia Elwiss finishing up unbeaten on 20.

Kimmince removed Danielle Hazell (one) and Katherine Brunt (four) before the innings came to an end with the run out of Shrubsole before she faced a delivery.

However the seamer did have an impact on the match with the ball, Elyse Villani and Alyssa Healy her first two victims as Australia lost three wickets for 22 runs after Haynes had been bowled by Hazell.

Shrubsole - who sent down nine overs - also ended Bolton's 182-ball innings, at which stage the score was 177-6.

England, though, were unable to dismiss their opponents before stumps, despite using nine different bowlers in a match that allowed both teams to use 13 players.

Jess Jonassen (43) helped put on a seventh-wicket stand of 74 with Kimmance, who then added a further unbroken alliance of 50 with Angela Reakes (20 not out).

Still, the match will have given Charlotte Edwards' troops some much-needed time in the middle ahead of the one-off Ashes Test at the WACA, which gets underway on Friday, January 10.
