England Lions are on the brink of a series whitewash after they lost fourth unofficial one-day international against Australia A at the SCG.
Gary Ballance hit a spirited 73 but it was all in vain as the tourists lost by 45 runs.
Aaron Finch's 109 off 117 balls had provided the backbone to Australia A's total of 285-8, with Adam Voges also chipping in with 81. Toby Roland-Jones was the pick of the England bowlers, taking 3-58.
In reply Warwickshire opener Varun Chopra gave the Lions hope with 41 at the top of the order.
However when Ballance was forced to retire hurt after being struck in the face by a delivery, the Lions lost their way
And despite Roland-Jones blasting 24, they lost their last four wickets for just 18 runs to be skittled out for 240.
Gurinder Sandhu and Alister McDermott claimed three wickets apiece for the hosts.
It was the fourth heavy defeat in succession for the Lions, with the final match of the series to come on Friday.
