Afghanistan vs India
India Win By Eight Wickets
So no Asia Cup final berth for India, but they've signed off with a comfortable consolation win against the minnows, who came and saw but did not conquer. That's it from us, here, but be sure to tune into an intriguing day five at Newlands now.
Over 32.2 Ind 160/2 (Rohit 18, Karthik 21)
Plenty of praise coming in for captain Kohli, who did the selfless thing by promoting Karthik up the order. Sharma, meanwhile, obliges with the winning boundary.
Over 32 Ind 154/2 (Rohit 12, Karthik 21)
No glory shots here, just good, quality ODI batting. Zadran perhaps survives to bowl another just now.
Over 31 Ind 153/2 (Rohit 11, Karthik 21)
Shan't be long now, as Shenwari is chastened over mid-on for four more - this time by wicketkeeper-batsman Karthik. 150 up for India.
Over 30 Ind 146/2 (Rohit 9, Karthik 16)
Seamer Shapoor is brought back into the attack. Pace onto the bat will suit the Indian pair entirely, so this bowling change is far from convincing. But humble pie it is, as he churns out a cheap'n.
Over 29 Ind 143/2 (Rohit 7, Karthik 15)
Nabi stretches the game through another over. There is incremental pride to be gained for the minnows, namely keeping India out there for as long as possible.
Over 28 Ind 140/2 (Rohit 5, Karthik 14)
Ashraf coughing up plenty of fodder here. Nothing good enough to trouble Karthik, who is eager to cash in with a couple of boundaries en route to a handy, unbeaten cameo.
Over 27 Ind 130/2 (Rohit 5, Karthik 4)
Status quo, for this partnership at least, as the duo find their feet in reasonably straightforward conditions - against a pretty average bowling attack.
Over 26 Ind 128/2 (Rohit 4, Karthik 3)
Rohit and Karthik are not going to chase quick runs like Dhawan and Rahane were, before the pair contrived to get 'emselves out.
Over 25 Ind 125/2 (Rohit 2, Karthik 2)
WICKET! Skipper Nabi returns himself to the attack - and the change in bowling works a treat for the Afghans, who are cherishing some consolation. Lazy sort of forward prod from Dhawan, who is beaten by some nominal turn - and has his off-stump pegged back. Karthik in now. India have two new men at the crease. A late twist in the tale? Probably not.
Over 24 Ind 122/1 (Dhawan 60, Rohit 1)
WICKET! Modest consolation for Afghanistan, who will surely lose this match sooner or later. Rahane is the day's fifth lbw victim. He wanted to nudge the seamer through the leg-side, missed the stroke, and was struck on the front pad dead enough in front. Up goes umpire Bowden's finger. Rohit in now. Drinks, meanwhile.
Over 23 Ind 120/0 (Rahane 56, Dhawan 59)
Shah being taken to the veritable cleaners, and perhaps one of Dhawan or Rahane fancy sneaking a century by a whisker. The left-hander cherishes a six to the righ-hander's four, and perhaps neither will make it to the milestone in the end...
Over 22 Ind 112/0 (Rahane 51, Dhawan 52)
Such superb calculation - and almost playfulness - from Rahane and Dhawan, who each welcome a steady half-century. They're playing it by the numbers, seesawing between boundary-laden overs and milked singles.
Over 21 Ind 102/0 (Rahane 49, Dhawan 48)
Dhawan tucks in with disdain, as leg-break bowler Shah's spell gets off to a veritable 'mare. Too much width and too much length allows the Indian opener to clout consecutive fours. The openers are really finding their collective groove now, after a bit of a slow start.
Over 20 Ind 93/0 (Rahane 49, Dhawan 39)
Right-arm medium-pacer Ashraf is into the attack. Decent with the bat, the fledgling all-rounder begins a solid complement with the ball. Dhawan and Rahane, meanwhile, nearing a century stand.
Over 19 Ind 88/0 (Rahane 44, Dhawan 38)
Shenwari continues, as Rahane begins to hit his straps, lofting four over extra cover and later beating mid-on for back-to-back boundaries. The spinner needs to change this length - and quickly.
Over 18 Ind 76/0 (Rahane 34, Dhawan 38)
Expert timing during a deft touch from Dhawan, who squeezes his latest boundary between extra cover and mid-off. Bowler Dawlat will argue that was a good ball, but the Indian's superiority wins this battle within the war.
Over 16 Ind 66/0 (Rahane 32, Dhawan 32)
The agony continues as Dawlat concedes three singles, with the last ball a nasty bouncer to add some excitement. India trail by 94 runs.
Over 15 Ind 63/0 (Rahane 30, Dhawan 31)
Samiullah Shenwari is brought into the attack, and the field appears to be made of Swiss cheese, as the India openers find holes all over the place. Five singles result.
Over 14 Ind 58/0 (Rahane 27, Dhawan 29)
Dhawan is handed a lifeline as he cuts to backward point, but is dropped by Shenwari. He gets both hands to it, but alas, his form with the bat does not transfer into the field. The over ends with a single to each batsman. Clearly there players have no interest in watching the end of the Cape Town game.
