Elite League leaders Belfast enjoyed an impressive 4-2 win over second-placed Sheffield on Saturday.

Jeffrey Szwez scored a hat-trick for the Giants, who are now 15 points clear at the top of the table. His first goal came after just 13 seconds, while he completed his treble with a powerplay effort.

Coventry battered Edinburgh 8-2 in the night's other standout performance, with Adam Heinrich and Ryan Ginand scoring twice each.

Elsewhere Cardiff beat Nottingham 2-1, the Devils recovering from Matt Francis' early opener for the hosts to claim their first win at the home of the Panthers in eight attempts.

Braehead won an all-Scottish affair with Dundee 5-3 and Hull saw off Fife, who have now lost nine straight on their travels, by a 4-1 scoreline.
