Belfast established further breathing room at the Elite League summit after clinching a thrilling 6-5 win over nearest challengers Braehead on Saturday night.
The Giants are now 11 points clear of the Clan after posting a second successive win over their title rivals following on from Friday's more comfortable 4-1 triumph at the Braehead Arena.
Braehead led 5-4 heading into the final period after the two sides shared seven goals in a wide open second stanza, but the Giants - who have now won seven straight games - levelled through Kevin Saurette before Jeffrey Szwez hit the winner with a little under 12 minutes remaining.
Braehead's slip allowed Sheffield to close two within two points of second place after they defeated Nottingham Panthers 3-2 in overtime, while there was also a thriller in Cardiff where the Devils were on the wrong end of a 4-3 win for Coventry Blaze.
Captain Ashley Tait netted a late game-winning goal for the Midlanders after the Devils had started the final period in front.
Elsewhere, Dundee Stars defeated Fife Flyers in an all-Scottish encounter, while Hull Stingrays became the second club from the city to win by a six-goal margin on Saturday - following on from Hull City's 6-0 win over Fulham in the Barclays Premier League - as bottom side Edinburgh Capitals were put to the sword in a 7-1 victory.
