EIHL: Dundee Stars close in on top spot

Dundee Stars moved to within two points of leaders Belfast Giants at the top of the Elite League after a 4-2 victory over Edinburgh Capitals.

Jerry Pollastrone and Nico Sacchetti both scored twice for Stars who moved three points clear of Sheffield Steelers with the South Yorkshire side going down to an emphatic 6-1 defeat at Nottingham Panthers.

Matt Francis scored three times for Panthers who went five points clear of Hull in sixth, the Stingrays well-beaten 5-2 at home by Coventry Blaze.

Braehead are fourth, level on points with Steelers, after they secured a 2-1 win at Cardiff Devils.

In the Challenge Cup the Giants record a 5-1 win over Fife Flyers in Group A.
