Elite League joint leaders Belfast Giants missed the chance to go clear at the top as they went down to a 2-1 defeat at Sheffield Steelers on Sunday.

The Giants, who had drawn 4-4 with Hull Stingrays last time out to go level on points with Dundee, took the lead through Darryl Lloyd.

Danny Meyere equalised for the Steelers before Jonathan Phillips gave the South Yorkshire side victory.

Fife Flyers held off a late fightback by Edinburgh to win 4-3 - with the Capitals suffering their ninth straight loss.

Stephen Gunn, Jordan Fulton, Derek Roehl and Jamie Wilson netted for the Flyers, with Martin Cingel (2) and Michal Dobron replying for the home side.

In the Challenge Cup, Dundee Stars overcame Braehead Clan 2-1 and Cardiff Devils were 4-0 winners against Coventry Blaze.
