The Edmonton Oilers celebrate their shootout victory over the New Jersey Devils
David Perron scored as part of a furious Edmonton third-period rally then again in the shootout as the Oilers beat the New Jersey Devils 5-4.
The Oilers were 3-0 down going into the third but goals from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Andrew Ference, Perron and Taylor Hall put them ahead.
Patrik Elias tallied with 54 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime but it was Edmonton who triumphed in the shootout as Jordan Eberle and Perron scored for the Oilers, while Damien Brunner and Ryane Clowe missed for the Devils.
In the day's other game, Brad Richards scored twice to lead the New York Rangers to a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
Ryan McDonagh also netted for the Rangers - a fortuitous distance effort in the third - while Jake Muzzin was on target for the Kings.
