The Braehaed Clan recorded a 5-4 shootout victory over the Sheffield Steelers after see-saw Elite League encounter.

Scott Aarssen and Shane Lust had given the Clan an early lead before the Steelers hit back through Jeff Legue.

Lust's second goal of the game restored Braehaed's two-goal advantage only for the Steelers to finish the second period on level terms after strikes from Robert Dowd and Dustin Kohn.

Sheffield took the lead for the first time with a powerplay goal from Stefan Meyer however Ray Macias' first goal for the Clan sent the game into overtime.

Nothing could separate the two sides in the extra period and it was left to Ed McGrane and Ash Goldie to snatch the extra point in the penalty shootout.

In the Challenge Cup, there were pool victories for the Dundee Stars, Nottingham Panthers and Coventry Blaze.

Goals from Nico Sacchetti (2) and Rory Rawlyk saw the Stars overcome Edinburgh Capitals in Group A.

In Group B the Panthers won their fourth game with a 5-3 victory against the Cardiff Devils, with Jonathan Weaver, Lynn Loyns, Leigh Salters, Chris Capraro and Tom Norton all scoring

The Blaze recorded their first win in the cup this season as they saw off the challenge of Hull Stingrays 7-4. Ryan Ginand (2), Adam Henrich (2), Michael Henrich, Kenny Kallstrom and Ashley Tait all netted for Coventry.
