Jarmo Kekalainen: Making NHL history
Jarmo Kekalainen has made NHL history by becoming the first European to be appointed as a general manager.
The Finn has become the new boss at the Columbus Blue Jackets, who fired Scott Howson on Tuesday night after more than five years in the job.
During Howson's time in charge the club only made it to the playoffs once and fell to the depths of the league.
Kekalainen was director of amateur scouting for the St. Louis Blues between 2002 and 2010.
He worked closely with Columbus director of hockey operations John Davidson with the Blues.
