A goal and two assists from Zdeno Chara saw the Boston Bruins claim a 5-3 victory over Carolina Hurricanes.

The game had remained very much in the balance until David Krejci and Tyler Seguin netted in the final two minutes to seal the win.

Brad Marchand and Nathan Horton also scored for the Northeast Division leaders, who remained unbeaten in regulation.

The resurgent Los Angeles Kings recovered from 2-0 down to beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 on a shoot-out.

The Stanley Cup champions had lost their opening three games but they have now won two on the bounce after Jeff Carter (2) and Slava Voynov scored.

Keith Yandle, Antoine Vermette, Laurie Korpikoski and Nick Johnson all scored and Chad Johnson registered his first NHL shut-out as the Phoenix Coyotes eased past the Nashville Predators 4-0.

The Edmonton Oilers beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 and the Columbus Blue Jackets were 2-1 winners over the Dallas Stars.
