Elite League leaders Nottingham returned to winning ways in emphatic style with an 8-1 rout of the Dundee Stars.

Pat Galivan had a hat-trick as the Panthers, 9-4 losers to old rivals Sheffield on Thursday, took out their frustrations on a Dundee side barely hovering above the bottom two.

Ninth place Edinburgh are now level on points with the Stars, having played two games more, after a morale-boosting 4-3 victory over the Braehead Clan on the road.

Rene Jarolin and Martin Cingel both scored in the third period as Edinburgh came from behind to win.

Belfast are four points behind Nottingham in second place following a 5-4 win over Hull in a contest that also served as the second leg of the Challenge Cup quarter-final - a tie Belfast won 8-5 on aggregate.

The Giants scored four times in the opening period, but needed Craig Peacock's late goal to take the win.
