Phil Hill put in a man-of-the-match performance as he guided Cardiff Devils to a 6-2 victory over Braehead Clan in the Elite Ice Hockey League.

With the teams tied at one apiece in the second period, the Devils hit three without reply including a shorthanded goal from Hill to take control of the game.

Edinburgh Capitals gave their fans an early Christmas present as they defeated the Dundee Stars for the first time in the league this season.

The 5-2 victory lifted them out the bottom two and means they have now won four of their last five games.

Three first period goals from the visiting Sheffield Steelers gave them a 4-2 victory over Hull Stingrays.

Two powerplay goals from Hull's Dominic Osman gave the hosts hope but Ashley Tait settled the contest in favour of the Steelers. Hull are now seven without a win.

The Fife Flyers had no answer to the Nottingham Panthers' firepower as they went down 7-1, suffering their 11th straight loss on the road.

Bruce Graham knocked in two powerplay goals to leave Nottingham sitting four points clear at the top of the league.
