Sheffield Steelers: Needed overtime to see off the challenge of Dundee Stars
Sheffield Steelers claimed a dramatic 5-4 victory against Dundee Stars thanks to an overtime goal from Shawn Limpright.
The Steelers seemed to be heading for a shock loss at Ice Sheffield as they trailed 4-3 with 75 seconds remaining in regulation, but Tylor Michel netted a late leveller to force the extra period.
The visitors made a fast start as goals from Matt Baxter and Tristan Harper put them 2-0 in front with just over three minutes gone.
But Sheffield poured on the pressure in the second period and drew level after a quick0fire double courtesy of Colin Shields and Steve Goertzen.
Skipper Jonathan Phillips edged the hosts ahead early in the third period before Pat Bowen and Sami Ryhanen turned the tables again as both scored for the Stars during powerplays.
Michel grabbed the equaliser at 58.45, however, while Limpright scored a penalty shot in overtime to seal the win.
