Sylvain Cloutier: Hopes Tom Squires will add depth to squad
Hull Stingrays have signed British forward Tom Squires on a two-way deal from Sheffield Steeldogs.
The Sheffield-born 21-year-old will make his debut in Thursday night's Challenge Cup tie at Cardiff Devils, where a win in regulation time will see Stingrays secure a place in the quarter-finals.
Squires, a former Great Britain junior international, has previously iced for Sheffield Steelhawks, Sheffield Scimitars and Sheffield Spartans as well as an impressive spell with Steelers, for whom he registered 34 points in 98 games and was part of their Rapid Solicitors Elite League-winning side in 2010/11.
Player-coach Sylvain Cloutier said: "With Andy Ward out injured I wanted to add some depth to the line-up.
"Tom is someone I wanted to sign in the summer but he went to the Steeldogs. But I spoke to him and asked if he wanted to come and play on a two-way deal.
"He has that experience of playing in the Elite League for the Steelers and has shown he can play at that level. He has good skill and he will get his chance in Cardiff. It is a good opportunity for him and I expect him to take advantage of that."
