Marian Gaborik: Scored the winner
Marian Gaborik scored in the third overtime period to give the New York Rangers a 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals.
The win put New York 2-1 up in the Eastern Conference Semi-final series and will be tough to take for the Capitals, who must recover physically and mentally in time for Saturday's game four.
Ryan Callahan put the Rangers into the lead 6:41 into the second period, but John Carlson levelled within five minutes.
Gaborik eventually scored his second post-season goal 14:41 into third OT to finish things.
The Nashville Predators also moved into a 2-1 lead in their series against the Phoenix Coyotes, albeit in less dramatic fashion.
The Predators scored twice in the first 10 minutes, through David Legwand and Mike Fisher, and held on for a 2-0 win.
