Marc Lefebvre got his reign as Coventry head coach off to a flying start as he led the Blaze to a 7-3 win over Cardiff in his first match in charge.

Lefebvre left his position as Sheffield Steelers assistant coach this week to replace Matt Soderstrom who was dismissed after a disappointing Elite League campaign so far.

And the change paid instant dividends as the Blaze romped to a comfortable win to leapfrog their opponents into seventh place in the table.

Michael Henrich and Ryan Ginand both scored twice for the Blaze who led 6-1 after two periods and, despite a Devils comeback, held on to hand their new boss an opening victory.
