Lady Cecil's Noble Mission is unlikely to run this month after his agonising defeat in France last weekend.

Frankel's brother looked certain to add the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud to the Tattersalls Gold Cup he won in May, but was caught just strides from the line by Spiritjim.

He appeared not to fully see out the 12 furlongs, although owner Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe thinks that is a harsh assessment.

He has the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 18 as his main aim later in the season.

"He came out of the race fine. He ran a super race, but obviously it was a bit galling he got caught," said Grimthorpe.

"There are no confirmed plans for him, we'll look at various options but he's unlikely to have a run this month.

"He was only beaten a head so it's a bit unfair to say he didn't see out the trip. On the other hand he'd won his three previous races over 10 furlongs and a little bit further.

"I think he's capable over a mile and a half and I certainly wouldn't rule out him running over that trip again. Don't forget he beat a St Leger winner (Encke) in the Gordon Stakes.

"The Breeders' Cup is not something we are looking at for him at the moment and in a perfect world he'll be in the Champion Stakes, but there are a few obstacles before then."
