Tony Martin is in no rush to decide whether either of his John Smith's Northumberland Plate entries Thomas Edison and Dark Crusader will line up at Newcastle.

Smart dual-purpose performer Thomas Edison made a winning return to Flat action with a good performance at the Curragh last month and would be a fascinating contender for the Gosforth Park showpiece on June 28, were he to take his chance.

Dark Crusader looked a filly of huge potential when completing a hat-trick in last summer's Melrose Stakes at York, but has been disappointing in three starts this year.

"They are just provisional entries. We'll have a look at the race and see how both horses go next week," said Martin.

"The race is still a fortnight away and we haven't made any plans, we'll just see how we go. She (Dark Crusader) probably hasn't come to herself yet this year, but we'll give her plenty of time."
