Stepper Point: Chantilly hopeful
Stepper Point will try for a third consecutive year to win the Prix du Gros-Chene at Chantilly on Sunday.
The five-year-old sprinter finished fifth and second in the last two renewals of the Group Two over five furlongs and tries again for the William Muir operation.
Stepper Point will be joined in the six-runner line-up by fellow British challengers, Lucky Beggar and Justineo, as he looks to reverse form with Catcall, to whom he finished third in the Prix de Saint-Georges at Longchamp on May 11.
Muir said: "Catcall is the one to beat, but this is the next logical step for our horse.
"He did well to finish second in this race two years ago but last season he was knocked over and still finished fifth.
"The going is good to soft as it stands, but we never really get in a panic about the ground.
"He likes fast ground, but he's also coped admirably when it's been really soft.
"Martin (Dwyer) is coming over to ride him and he knows the horse better than anyone."
