J Wonder beats Al Thakhira at Newbury
J Wonder and Al Thakhira could clash again after the pair both featured among 23 contenders for Sunday's Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, also know as the French 1000 Guineas, at Longchamp.
The Brian Meehan-trained J Wonder beat Marco Botti's Al Thakhira just a head in the Fred Darling at Newbury and both skipped possible runs in the Newmarket Guineas to head here instead.
Charlie Hills' Queen Catrine is also still in the reckoning after sidestepping the Newmarket Guineas, while Rae Guest's Cape Factor could also take her chance after lifting a Listed prize on her final start last term.
Aidan O'Brien is typically well represented at this stage with Wonderfully and Palace. Paul Deegan's Avenue Gabriel is another Irish-trained possible.
Xcellence leads the home team after beating subsequent Newmarket winner Miss France into sixth in the Prix Imprudence last month.
This Time, who claimed fourth in the Prix Imprudence, and fifth-placed Marbre Rose could try their luck again for Alex Pantall and Freddy Head respectively.
Four of the five runners in last month's Prix de la Grotte reoppose, headed by the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained winner Lesstalk In Paris.
Runner-up Straight Thinking could go again for Andre Fabre, with Indonesienne and Bocaiuva also out to reverse the Longchamp form.
Fabre has a second string to his bow in Fintry, as does Rouget, who also has Avenir Certain.
Alain de Royer-Dupre has Mintaka and Veda entered for the Aga Khan, while Paola Lisa, Trophee, Fair Dubawi, Stellar Path and Ice Love complete the possibles.
