Simonsig: Made full recovery from his injury
Nicky Henderson reports Simonsig to have fully recovered from the injury that kept him off the track for the entire season and is excited to bring him back next term.
Connections have yet to decide over what distance they will campaign the eight-year-old grey, with three miles suggested as a possible trip for the 2013 Arkle Trophy victor, who went through his novice season unbeaten.
However, Henderson will take into account the wellbeing of his sidelined 2013 Queen Mother Champion Chase hero Sprinter Sacre before making plans as he wants to mount the best possible challenge to the Gary Moore-trained Sire De Grugy, who is now top of the pile over two miles.
"It was a splint bone thing and that should be well mended," the Seven Barrows trainer told At The Races.
"We could probably have got Simonsig back for the second half of the season, but no chances were taken.
"He will be back. As to trip, I don't know. We were certainly thinking of three miles. You might think he'd be a King George horse.
"We'll see where Sprinter is. I know where Sire De Grugy is - tucked up in his box. He's the champ and well done him. We'll tackle him with something next year."
