Pat Cosgrave: Will soon learn his fate
Pat Cosgrave is set to learn his fate "within seven days" following the conclusion of an appeal against a six-month riding ban handed out by the Emirates Racing Authority.
Cosgrave was hit with the lengthy suspension after he was found to have moved Anaerobio off the rail in the straight to allow fellow Mike de Kock-trainer runner Vercingetorix through on the inside to win the Group One Jebel Hatta at Meydan on March 8.
Anaerobio eventually finished third in the nine-furlong contest, two lengths behind the winner.
The ERA found Cosgrave guilty of a blatant breach of the rule regarding improper riding which has a detrimental image to racing and handed out the suspension following an inquiry last month.
His case was heard at the ERA's Dubai offices on Monday.
Paul Struthers, chief executive of the Professional Jockeys Association, tweeted: "Appeal of @patcosgrave has concluded.
"The ERA Appeal Board hope to rule on it within seven days. Clearly we can't comment pending the decision."
An ERA statement read: "The ERA appeal panel reserved its decision and undertook to determine the matter within seven days.
"A report regarding the ERA appeal panel's decision will be made available when a determination is delivered."
