Trainer Sabrina Harty is waiting for drier ground before unleashing highly-rated miler Ansgar in what she hopes will be another profitable campaign.

The six-year-old twice finished runner-up in Group Threes last season, but connections must bide their time, with a trip to England for his seasonal bow not yet ruled out.

County Kildare-based Harty said: "We were hoping to go for the Gladness Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday but we kind of thought it was going to be too soft so we didn't end up entering there.

"We have him entered in Leopardstown (Amethyst Stakes, May 11) over a mile but we'd like to drop him back to seven.

"I think he'd be really interesting over that trip. He went to seven furlong in Newmarket (Challenge Stakes last October) but the ground changed to soft.

"An alternative start off for him would be at Haydock on Swinton Hurdle day - it's a seven-furlong Listed race. We might be going there with Kalann anyway and they could both go there if the ground came up good.

"He's in great form. He wintered really well and looks fantastic. I'm really happy with him.

"He stays really well and he's speedy - he's able to get a lot of horses off the bridle early. When he goes up in class going back in trip seems to help.

"He's given us some great days already and you wouldn't be afraid to travel with him as he takes it well enough."
