Nicky Henderson has his team in good form
Nicky Henderson was delighted with the latest piece of stronger work put in by Arkle-bound SIMONSIG who readily put a Flat performer rated 114 in his place and seems to be in electric form ahead of the two-mile novice chase championship at Cheltenham.
The grey was very much on his toes at Henderson's Press day on Monday and along with SPRINTER SACRE is the trainer's banker at the Festival.
The latter looks like starting the shortest-priced favourite in Cheltenham Festival history (Arkle was 1-3 when landing his final Gold Cup) in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, and his latest schooling session went like clockwork.
BINOCULAR is showing Henderson every indication that he is somewhere close to being back to his best.
The former Champion hurdler demonstrated when taking off outside the wings in a recent school that he is primed for a big run in this year's hurdling decider and his well-being made the decision not to supplement MY TENT OR YOURS into the Champion easier to make..
My Tent Or Yours will stick to the novice route and run in the opening Supreme Novices' Hurdle and he has given every indication of having taken his Betfair Hurdle exertions in his stride.
CAPTAIN CONAN will according to Henderson be much happier with a strong end-to-end gallop in the Jewson and is giving off all the right signals.
Several horses will engage in racecourse gallops, including GRANDOUET who may head to Newbury next week. KHYBER KIM has taken his Kingwell Hurdle run in his stride and has been confirmed a third string to the Henderson Champion Hurdle attack.
Grandouet seems absolutely fine after knocking himself last week. He doesn't take much getting ready and that augurs well for his Champion challenge - as does the likelihood of better ground than he encountered in the International Hurdle.
Henderson has 13 possibles for the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle that he won the first time it was run with Andytown in 2009. All of them are eligible to run including TOP OF THE RANGE who would appreciate better going than he faced at Ascot last weekend.
Tuesday's Taunton runner OSCAR NOMINEE is another leading light for the race.
