Alasi: Set to run over hurdles at Sandown

Alasi: Set to run over hurdles at Sandown

Paul Webber is among a host of National Hunt trainers set to take advantage of the BHA's far-sightedness in organising additional "jumpers' bumpers" fixtures during the big freeze.

The Cropredy Lawn handler has entered no fewer than 10 of his team for Sunday's meeting on the Wolverhampton Polytrack.

Having kept his horses on the go cantering in the snow at his Oxfordshire base, Webber is mindful of the fact underfoot conditions will be severely testing on the racecourse once the snow has melted.

RYSBRACK is in the squad for Dunstall Park and he looked in good order in his latest work on the all-weather at Cropredy.

The gigantic chestnut was a bit awkward at his obstacles when first going hurdling, but has become a lot more proficient and run well in well-contested novice races.

His turn will come.

LADY KATHLEEN was the subject of a major market plunge on her latest outing at Hereford only to run into a well-handicapped rival.

She kept on strongly for minor honours and had run satisfactorily in a better race at Ascot previously.

The Hernando mare looks ready for a good, solid run at the weekend and has always worked well on the artificial strip at home.

GUEST OF HONOUR should improve from his debut in a Lingfield bumper, while SUSSEX SUNSET is shaping nicely and will join the party on Sunday.

SEPTEMBER BLAZE and ORCHARD BOY also moved nicely on their latest visits to the main all-weather.

ALASI continues to please and having missed her intended warm-up for Cheltenham at Doncaster and will now be redirected to Sandown for a two-and-a-half-mile Listed mares' hurdle.

It could provide an action replay of her clash there with Une Artiste and, according to Webber, will put her spot on for the Mares' Hurdle at the Festival.
