Malachim Mist can take the next step up the ladder by claiming the Youngsters Conditions Stakes at Pontefract's evening meeting.

Richard Hannon sends this Dark Angel colt on the long journey north after he won a Goodwood maiden at the second time of asking earlier this month.

Malachim Mist was drawn on the wrong side at Newbury on his racecourse bow but the experience clearly taught him plenty as he looked a useful tool when winning on the Sussex Downs.

Racing over six furlongs, Malachim Mist broke smartly to bag the stands' rail and made every yard of the running before being eased down to win by just under three lengths.

With the form of his initial run starting to work out well and plenty of big sales race entries later in the year, he has all the hallmarks of another classy Hannon juvenile.

Sir Michael Stoute's horses have been in excellent form, and the Newmarket maestro looks set for a Pontefract double courtesy of Mission Approved and Duke Cosimo.

The first-named justified strong support when winning making a winning bow in handicap company at Lingfield last time and a 5lb rise looks workable in the Tony Lewis & Our Best Pal Handicap.

While he did not win by far at Lingfield, it was hard not to have been impressed with the way he picked up from the back of the field in the final furlong.

Duke Cosimo let down favourite-backers on his racecourse debut but should recover losses in Pontefract's Got Talent - Friday Evening 7th June Maiden Stakes.

He ran a bit green that day but was only beaten a neck and usual improvement should be sufficient to claim this race.

Two In The Pink is worth following in Nottingham's Eat In Our Rooftop Restaurant Handicap after winning a maiden at the third attempt recently.

She did not have to be too special to beat Batchworth Lady by a length and three-quarters and a rating of 65 does not look too harsh.

Mean It should appreciate the step up in trip to 10 furlongs in the Vertem Handicap at Newcastle.

He made a satisfactory return when beaten into second on his return at Windsor, but after getting run out of it in the finish, an increase in distance appears the logical step.

Authoritarian is the choice in the Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Fillies' Handicap at Brighton, while Kayfton Pete can strike gold in the Haygain Hay Steamers Clean Healthy Forage Handicap Chase at Towcester.
