Jason Maguire has joined forces with Great British Racing in an ambassadorial role for the 2014/15 jumps season.
The Grand National-winning jockey, who endured six months on the sidelines earlier this year after a life-threatening fall in March, has since bounced back to winning ways, scoring on his first ride back from injury at Newton Abbot in September.
Maguire, who is stable jockey to the powerful Donald McCain stables in Cheshire, will write fortnightly blogs for Lovetheraces.com ahead of the season’s biggest jumps races, providing fans with a unique insight into life in one of the world’s toughest sports.
Maguire said: “I am really excited to be taking up this new role with Great British Racing for the 2014/15 season. I've had a rocky few months, missing the summer after a bad injury, but I am raring to go now and to recount my experiences through the winter.
"Hopefully, readers of my blog will enjoy getting a behind-the-scenes view of what it is like being a jump jockey as we build up to the big festivals in the spring.”
Jason’s first blog will appear on Lovetheraces.com from Friday November 14 to coincide with Cheltenham’s Open Meeting.
He will also host a number of Twitter Q&A sessions with fans ahead of the Cheltenham and Grand National Festivals and provide behind-the-scenes insight into the training of the likes of Clondaw Kaempfer, Diamond King and Overturn.
Rod Street, Chief Executive of Great British Racing said, “We are delighted to have Jason on board for the forthcoming jumps season.
"Few athletes endure the highs and lows that jump jockeys experience and Jason knows this more than most. It is brilliant to have someone of his experience and talent on board and I am sure that his contributions will make for fascinating reading for new and existing fans alike.”
