No hurry for Clever plan

Peter Niven is quite content to play the long game with emerging stayer Clever Cookie.
The six-year-old gelding has only had six Flat starts in a varied career, but he again showed great potential to get to within two lengths of Esimate in the Doncaster Cup last Friday.
Clever Cookie could end up being added to the field for the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot on October 18, but Niven insists he is a horse for the future.
Malton-based Niven said: "Clever Cookie is very well, but there's very little for him for the rest of the year.
"We could supplement him for Champions Day, but that would cost a lot of money and we've yet to make a firm plan.
"The most important thing is to think about planning a campaign for him for next season.
"He's only had six runs on the Flat and is a very good horse."
