Ocean team want Haydock rain

John Ryan will still give an entry to star performer Ocean Tempest in Saturday's betfred.com Superior Mile at Haydock, despite an unfavourable weather forecast.
Ryan would like to run his in-form grey in the Group Three contest after the five-year-old grey put up a tremendous weight-carrying performance to win at Chester on Saturday.
Ocean Tempest wants a bit of cut in the ground and while conditions are currently suitable, a warm spell of weather is expected in the coming week.
"It was an amazing achievement to be able to do that with that much weight, so I'm very pleased," said the Newmarket trainer.
"He had pulled muscles in his back at Windsor on his previous start and it takes time to repair them.
"We've had him pencilled him for Haydock next week, the Superior Mile, and he will be entered in that.
"The ground there is good to soft, soft in places in the moment, but the forecast says it's going to get hot, so if it does it will dry up.
"I'll keep my fingers crossed because the majority of the time the weather men don't get it right. We're just going to pick our way through and find the right races for him.
"There wouldn't be too many chances for him in handicaps like that. Touch-wood, he's come out of the races really well.
"He's turned out in the field for a couple of days and will enjoy a little rest.
"He's in the Cambridgeshire, but it would be ground dependent. We'll just see."
Ryan also has Tenor in the prestigious nine-furlong handicap at Newmarket on September 27 and the four-year-old is set to line up at Kempton on Saturday.
"The two of them wouldn't turn up together. One wants it fast and one wants it slow. They are both good enough," said Ryan.
"Tenor runs at Kempton on Saturday in the final of the London Mile Series. He won one of the qualifiers.
"He would have to do similar to what the grey (Ocean Tempest) did at Chester as he's now up to 103, and it was only in May he won off 78."
