Dual Group One-winning sprinter Reckless Abandon is to return to training with Charlie Appleby after suffering fertility problems at stud.

The four-year-old won both the Prix Morny at Deauville and the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket as a juvenile for trainer Clive Cox, after which he was purchased by Sheikh MOhammed's Darley Stud before being leased back to owners Julie Deadman and Stephen Barrow.

He ran three times as a three-year-old, performing creditably in defeat in the Temple Stakes at Haydock, the King's Stand at Royal Ascot and the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp before being retired from racing.

However, Reckless Abandon is set to make a return to competitive action and race under the Godolphin banner.

Darley said on Twitter: "Reckless Abandon, who joined our EU roster in '14, returns to training due to fertility issues.

"Charlie Appleby to train him for Godolphin."
