Complicit is on course for the £150,000 32Red All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championship at Lingfield Park on All-Weather Championships Finals Day on Friday week.

Paul Cole's charge guaranteed his place in the seven-furlong contest with a decisive length victory over Sir Robert Cheval in a 32Red-sponsored Fast-Track Qualifier over the same course and distance on November 23, shaving over a second off the two-year-old course record in the process.

The son of Captain Rio followed up in a foray to France, where he got the better of the highly-regarded Zavarov in a mile conditions event on the Fibresand at Deauville in December.

Oliver Cole, assistant to his father Paul, said: "Complicit's preparation has been fine and he will be going to Lingfield for All-Weather Championships Finals Day.

"He has a tremendous amount of talent and Jean Claude-Rouget thinks the horse he beat at Deauville is a good horse. We haven't got to the bottom of Complicit as he only does what he has to do, whether that be on the racecourse or in his work at home.

"He was quite a difficult horse last year because he had a phobia of the stalls. We had James Doyle on him at Newbury, but he reared up behind the stalls and James didn't want to get back on him.

"Graham Lee has worked the oracle with him and we probably haven't seen Complicit at his best on the track yet, which makes him quite an exciting horse.

"The drop back to seven furlongs would be a slight question mark because the dam (Molomo) won over a mile and a half, but she has produced three seven-furlong winners. Complicit's half-sister Rainfall won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot over seven and Complicit himself was pretty good when he won over seven at Lingfield.

"We expect some good things from him this year. Whether he needs a longer trip, time will tell, but we will start him off at Lingfield and he deserves to be in the race."

The Whatcombe team is also hoping to saddle Silverheels on the same card in the £150,000 Ladbrokes Mile (which has a maximum field of 12).

The five-year-old, a 20/1 chance with the sponsors, has been in great form, annexing a mile claimer at Deauville on March 1, before an eye-catching two and a quarter length victory in a mile handicap at Kempton Park on March 19.

Cole added: "Silverheels will go for the Ladbrokes Mile if he gets in - I think he needs four to come out.

"We will be going there hoping, rather than expecting, but he went off favourite for a Norfolk Stakes once and the blinkers seem to have reformed him.

"His homework is very good and he appears to have turned a corner, so we are very happy with him."
